Mission: Silver Rain
Location: USS Intrepid
Timeline: MD0: 0800 hours

Captain Max Culver stepped on the bridge wearing the leather jacket variant uniform over a black t-shirt. He crossed the upper portion and stepped down into the command well.

He was glad to have something new to do. The events on both Kaitos and Krios had left a bad taste in his mouth. A sense that someone was meddling in foreign politics and terrorism. Starfleet was still recovering from the attempted Borg coup and identified Changling operatives who had terrorized the UFOP two years ago. They didn’t need an extension of that terror.

“Commander Lorut, I want department readiness reports from everyone. We’re heading back out into the unknown, past where the Romulans mapping has occurred. This time, we really will be exploring something entirely new for Starfleet.”

Vila nodded. "Yes, sir," she said. Then, she raised her voice, and tapped her Comms badge.

"Bridge stations, report in!!" Into her comms, she spoke. =/\=All department heads, the Captain requires a readiness report. You have ten minutes, please. =/\= She clicked off, and stood up from the Command chair.

"The evening was...uneventful." Thankfully. She'd had enough "events" for a lifetime. "The bridge is ready for you," she said. She settled into the second seat. "How was your leave?" She asked. She knew, but still. She was calmer, a bit different now.

“Trying, if I’m being honest,” Max responded as he took the center seat. “Rylan has some information he wants me to view with him.” Max left out the finiis’ral part. People would know soon enough on a ship this size.

“I heard your adventures on Kaitos were no less trying than mine on Krios.”

Vila made a snorting noise. "Indeed," she said. "It was... a trial. However, we came together, and solved it," she said. "The crew performed excellently. I am pleased." From the Bajoran, it was high praise. "I appreciate you sending backup, as well. Albion is out for my head, but...I think I can take him on." If anyone could, it was her. "All departments report 100% readiness, Captain. Anything else?" She settled into her spot. She was off shortly, as she usually worked the Beta shift, but did like to spend a few extra minutes to make sure things were running smoothly.

Trevino handed Nyx a report on ship’s transporter systems. It showed the error in the matrices which had been corrected. He had conducted a line-by-line investigation of the coding in order to find the reason why the Executive Officer experienced an unexpected relocation to the inside of the outer hull. “How does something like this even happen?” she asked Trevino.

“I’m not sure. It was not easy to find. I don’t want to say it was deliberate... but the shoe fits in this instance,” Trevino answered.

“The ship isn’t old enough to have a saboteur messing up the systems,” Nyx scowled.

“Then maybe someone was trying to be clever with their own coding while installing the software?” Trevino suggested.

“Maybe,” Nyx said. She looked over to the main board, noticing the status request coming from the bridge. She checked her displays and pulled the controls to bring the ship out of standby on the engines, then sent a response to the bridge, “All systems go.”

:: BRIDGE ::

Aurora was off duty swimming with the dolphins when the orders came down on her Trilix watch. Aurora'd been tinkering and created a cross between an Old Earth water proof watch, a Data PADD, a smart phone watch, and a depth meter to get updates and information from everywhere when she was anywhere. Aurora swam to the side of the tank, got out, did a quick looksy (Aurora always made sure to check everything herself after the night shift/before the morning shift) and hit the intercom.

"All clear in Cetacean Ops," Aurora said.

=/\=Thank you.=/\=

Aurora dried off, then changed into a uniform and headed for the bridge, curious about where they were going.

"Sickbay is standing by when required," Doctor Greene replied to the request a little disappointing to be leaving the system and resuming their mission. He'd grown accustomed again to life on the surface having never really warmed to ship life ironically.

Clay stood by the security station, towering over most on the bridge, his bulk not helped any by the armor he wore over his duty uniform.

"Security and Tactical reports ready, all armories and security stations manned."

“Strategic Operations is standing by,” Aaron answered as he linked in with the USS Lovelace, a Lamarr class starship that would be accompanying them as a support ship for this mission to planet 42-5P. It wasn’t named on Starfleet or Romulan maps, so Aaron decided to call it Xavier’s planet - at least, in his head.

"Thank you!!" The XO replied to each.

"Science is ready!" S'tera said. At that, Vila acknowledged the Caitian with a nod and a smile.

Despite all of the upheaval and drama from the last several days, Commander Rylen Lyo still stood ready to serve. His spirit had nearly been broken, and his shared empathic bond with Max was a balm for his shattered heart. The Kriosian, dressed in a freshly pressed gold and black uniform with his boots and pips and comm badge shined to glistening perfection, took his station; with a dramatic sweep of his right hand across the control interface, the station came to life. Despite being one of the most automated starships ever constructed, Intrepid still needed constant monitoring and adjusting; as the Operations Manager, that was literally Rylen’s job. He turned his head ninety degrees right and said over his shoulder “Ops is green across the board, Sir.”

"I am here, ready to assist in whatever way I can," Rena replied. "If anyone needs me, I'll be down in my office," she said. She disliked being on the bridge unless her particular skills were needed; she felt useless and in the way.

“Helm is standing by for your command, Captain,” Will responded with an excited smile. This really was a mission to extend the frontiers of the Federation.

Vila stood. "I will turn the bridge over to you and Commander Lyo," she said. "Beta shift has no incidents to report," she said.

Max turned to his left, the seat for the mission advisor. Sitting there was a young, blond android. Xavier X-1 had asked Max a long time ago to help him save the people of his planet. With all the turmoil of their last two missions - while on shore leave - Max was determined to have a good mission, to save an entire planet from an android invasion by the X-2 version that replaced Xavier’s X-1 model.

“Let’s go save your organic people from the X-2s,” Max told Xavier. While the android appeared young, Max knew he was much older than his appearance. Hell, he was probably older than Max himself.

"They are dangerous opponents. Doubly so because they have no real emotions, certainly no empathy. They only care about completing their mission, regardless of the consequences or collateral damage."

Aurora stepped onto the Bridge in time to hear this.

"[Ok...this just got terrysting]" Aurora thought, mixing the words terrifying and interesting.

“Fantastic.” Max shared a wary look at Vila. Without the Romulan Empire, it seemed that the entire Beta Quadrant was falling apart, though, in fairness, this planet was outside of their territory. “Helm, set heading 275 mark 9.

Vila simply nodded, but let out a sigh. Indeed, having the Romulans out of the BQ was going to be a PROBLEM. She just shrugged. "Captain, orders?"

“Heading set, Captain,” came the quick response from the helm.

“Warp eight should get us that far out in about a week, assuming we don’t encounter and interference, distress calls or fate driven comets.”

“Alright, punch it!”
