Dani had been putting it for a day or two, but as he pulled on his t-shirt for the day, there was a tenseness to his shoulder. That was new, otherwise the pain had been more like a toothache, dull but bearable. Probably from hot-shotting it with Max on their climb instead of taking his time. Of course, it might have been a night’s activities that had landed him in sickbay as well, but he wasn’t telling a doctor that!
He entered sickbay and didn’t know how this worked on a starship. Was it by appointment or…what? He didn’t see a receptionist like Rena had.
Morgan stepped out of their office. They stride over to Daniel, with a smile, holding their big medical PADD in their hands.
“Good morning, can I assist you with anything?”
“Good Morning,” Dani responded, looking at the interesting Caitian. Dani shrugged his left shoulder, trying to stretch out the sore muscles. “My left shoulder and elbow have been a little troublesome,” he explained in his Spanish accent.
"Well, let's see if we can't figure out what the trouble is," They said as they gestured over to one of the biobeds.
"Hop on up and I'll run some scans and see if we can find the problem." Morgan wouldn't lie to themselves, this man was quite attractive and that accent did things.
Dani followed the doctor and hitched himself onto the biobed. “I think something is not feeling right after rock climbing with a group a few days ago,” Dani explained. “It wasn’t a race, but you know Max…sorry, your Captain.”
Dani paused as he examined the doctor. “Or maybe you don’t. I know many of the crew, but you seem new,” he suggested.
“I’ve briefly met the Captain. But let’s get you up on the table and scanned.” Morgan smiled as they got to the biobed and picked up a tricorder.
“Go ahead, Doctor? Oh! Where are my manners, I didn’t even ask your name?” Dani said, knowing better from his lifelong training in accommodations.
“Morgan, Dr. Morgan Alexander-Harrington” they replied as they opened up their tricorder and started scanning Dani’s shoulder.
“It appears that you’ve pulled up a file, so you know my name is Daniel Martinez,” Dani said, his voice calm and quiet as the doctor scanned. Even his accent seemed hushed.
"I do, and your chart. You've been quite healthy according to Dr. Greene."
Morgan purred as they look over the scans on their tricorder. "Pulled a muscle in your shoulder, it seems."
“As I thought. Racing against Max is a losing battle when it’s his game,” Dani said with a slight smirk. Dani was in great shape, it was just that he didn’t have Max’s training in rock climbing and Dani even felt Max was holding back still. “I will just have to force him to play some of my games. They don’t include quite as rough a treatment of our bodies.”
Morgan gave Dani a soft smile. “And if I may ask, what games that might be?”
They had an idea but they wanted to make sure they were not grasping at straws.
“For me, Doctor Morgan,” Dani said, looking specifically into the Caitian’s eyes, “I prefer playing games with his head, um…no, his mind rather. He gets frustrated, doesn’t have the patience. It’s sometimes fun to see him frustrated.”
“Well, just as long as we don’t…over exert ourselves,” They quipped.
“I’ll get you a hypo with a pain reliever, and ask you come back again in a couple days to follow up.”
“Whatever you say, Doctor,” Dani said amiably. The Caitian seemed pleasant enough. Dani would do a little looking into the doctor later. Eying the colorful cat, Dani thought, “They probably use they/them as their pronouns.” He decided he was happy he had joined Max on this trip into space.
Morgan stepped away for a moment before returning with the hypospray, pressing it to Dani's neck and administrating the medication.
"If that doesn't help, let me know and we'll run a full imaging series and consult with Dr. Greene," They commented when they were done.
“Thank you, Doctor Morgan. We should ask you to dinner…after all this nonsense is over,” Dani suggested, stretching out his relieved muscles.
Morgan smiled softly at the young man. “I’d like that.”
“Good! I will wait for the work to be over with these Helivans and then we will send you an invitation to ours for dinner.” Dani smiled and hopped down from the biobed.
“See you soon, Doctor Morgan,” Dani said, offering a wave with his good arm.
