Personality & Traits
General Overview | Stovek has a lot of personality traits in common with most Vulcans; he has, however, schooled himself extensively in social niceties and therefore comes across as courteous, borderline pleasant. Stovek believes in the primacy of logic, but also believes that logic is only the beginning of wisdom. He does have a tendency to be completely (and sometimes savagely) frank in his discussions with others.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Stovek’s strong knowledge about starship operations and systems integration has earned him much praise from his superiors. At the Academy, he focused his efforts on computer systems. Stovek considers himself something of a social Justice crusader, with a strong desire to not only right perceived wrongs but to make restitution for them as well. This is both a strength and a weakness. Stovek has a difficult and complicated relationship with his ex-wife, T’Lana. He has a very strong bond with his son Xon and would do anything to protect his progeny. |
|
Ambitions | For now, Stovek simply wants to run the Ops department effectively. He would like to ascend the command chain eventually, perhaps to a Second Officer or XO position.
Hobbies & Interests | Stovek has a very adventurous palate. He is willing to try just about anything, and he does not limit himself to a vegetarian diet like most Vulcans. He is also very fond of Terran instrumental music from the Baroque era, so much so that he has taught himself to play the violin so that he may participate directly. |
Personal History | Stovek was born in the summer of 2333 in Mel’Kaht, a medium sized city on Vulcan’s primary continent. Although he was not an exceptional student, young Stovek did show an uncommon aptitude for machines; specifically, for getting disparate items to work together seamlessly. At age ten he was placed in a program geared toward technical professions; the program was sponsored by the Federation Council, as a potential recruitment tool for Starfleet. Stovek did not disappoint in that area, applying to and being accepted into Starfleet’s Operation program in 2350. Stovek’s grades were solid, but not exceptional, at the academy. He graduated as an Ensign in 2354 and was assigned to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards as a Systems Integration Specialist until 2360. During this time frame, Stovek worked on several computer-related issues pertaining to the new Galaxy class explorer, such as integrating the Holodeck interfaces. Following that assignment, Stovek was placed on the USS Langley as a Beta Shift Ops officer. He served on the Langley until 2368, when he was promoted to Chief and stationed on the USS Berkeley, a California class utility cruiser. In 2373, the Vulcan was reassigned to the USS Columbus. That assignment lasted only a few years, because the Columbus was destroyed at the Second Battle of Chin’Toka. Stovek was then transferred to the USS Cairo, where he served until 2383. In 2383, Stovek entered into an arranged marriage with T’Lana. The marriage was seen mostly as a political alliance between two smaller and less influential families. Stovek went on sabbatical from Starfleet when his soon Xon was born that year, and Stovek took a position with a private firm that designed and manufactured luxury personal spacecraft. His son entered Starfleet Academy in 2404, and Stovek first divorced his wife then returned to Starfleet. After three months of refresher courses, Stovek was assigned to the USS Intrepid. |
